About The Position
Merakey, a leading non-profit provider of developmental and behavioral health services, is seeking mission-driven, compassionate, and reliable individuals to join their team in Yardley, PA, within their IDD Division. The role is for a Direct Support Professional (DSP), and candidates can be experienced Caregivers, Direct Care Workers, Home Health Aides, or individuals looking to start a career in human services, as no prior experience is required and paid training is provided. As a DSP, the individual will work with a passionate team to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them build independence, develop social and communication skills, and navigate daily living activities such as personal care, housekeeping, and community engagement. The role involves making memories through activities like trips to the park and sensory gardens, and assisting individuals in achieving their personal goals, acting as a mentor, coach, and advocate. Merakey is a non-profit provider with over fifty years of history, offering developmental, behavioral health, and education services to nearly 40,000 individuals and families across 12 states. Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must have a desire to help others reach their fullest potential
Nice To Haves
- Verifiable High School diploma/G.E. D preferred
- Experience in a home health aide setting, or school setting working with people who have Intellectual and Developmental disabilities is preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and support with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Assist with personal care, hygiene, mobility, and meal preparation
- Support life skills development, including household tasks and social skills
- Provide community support, transportation
- Promote health, safety, and well-being, including medication support (as trained)
- Complete required documentation, progress notes, and service logs
