About The Position

Wendell Foster is seeking an energetic Direct Support Professional for their Day Training Department. This role involves understanding and respecting individuals' rights, ensuring their safety and well-being, and implementing their plan of care. Key responsibilities include understanding and adhering to policies for reporting suspected abuse, serving as a member of the individual's care team, and assisting with various daily living activities such as walking, dressing, personal hygiene, eating, using the toilet, bathing, meal planning, laundry, budgeting, home care, and cleaning. The professional will also provide emotional support, advice, and assistance, arrange transportation for services and appointments, and actively participate in medical appointments and follow-up care.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Possession of valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Currently possess or able to complete first aid and CPR certification (training provided)
  • Complete all training required by the Division of Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (training provided)

Responsibilities

  • Understand the individuals’ rights and display respect and dignity when interacting with the individuals.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of individuals and implements the plan of care.
  • Understand the departmental policy on the correct way to report any suspected form of abuse that may be observed and/or reported.
  • Serves as a member of the individual’s plan of care team.
  • Assists with daily living such as: walking, getting dressed, personal hygiene, eating, using the toilet, bathing, meal planning and preparation, laundry, budgeting and financial assistance, home care, and cleaning.
  • Provide emotional support advice, and assistance to help the individual work through problems.
  • Provide or arrange for transportation to services, activities, and medical appointments as needed.
  • Actively participates in medical appointments and follow-up care as directed by the physician.

  • Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 am- 3:30 pm
  • New hourly rate starting at $16.00
