About The Position

We are seeking a Direct Support Professional who will work with an interdisciplinary treatment team to carry out a variety of therapeutic disciplines to ensure that each person served at the South Dakota Development Center (SDDC) will develop to their fullest potential. This position will positively impact the lives of the persons served by carrying out individual training, behavior management, and therapy programs. The Direct Support Professional will enhance the well-being of the persons served while providing continual guidance regarding life skills, academic skills, and work skills to ensure appropriate social interaction. This is a 0.25 Part-time position that works hours as need to include one four-hour weekend shift per month with the Department of Human Services (DHS) at the SDDC. Work schedule is as needed and very flexible. This position does not include benefits such as health and flexible benefits nor is it SDRS eligible. Starting pay is $19.72 plus a $1.00 shift differential on Fridays and Mondays and a $2.00 shift differential for Saturdays and Sundays. Responsibilities

  • physical and emotional needs of people served

  • lead the people in assigned tasks

  • carry out procedures of teaching or treatment plans with people served
  • accurately observe and report individuals' behavior and other responses to treatment
  • establish and maintain good working relationships with staff and persons served
  • provide work direction to staff regarding methods to assist people with developmental disabilities as needed
  • prepare routine reports
