About The Position

The Direct Support Professional position involves providing comprehensive assistance and monitoring to clients in various aspects of their daily lives. This includes support with self-care activities like dressing, bathing, and toileting, as well as mealtime assistance, ensuring proper utilization of family-style dining and adherence to prescribed diets with adaptive equipment. Professionals will also help clients with housekeeping duties, meal preparation, and the accurate administration of prescribed medications. A key part of the role is implementing and following established behavior programs, collecting data, and ensuring safety procedures are met. The position requires active participation in client training objective plans, recording data, and achieving service goals as part of an interdisciplinary team. Additionally, responsibilities include transporting clients in company vehicles, accompanying them on community outings, and supporting their participation in school and day program activities. Continuous professional development is expected through scheduled staff development classes and competency testing in areas such as MANDT, CPR, First Aid, Safe Van Driving, Promotion of Consumer Well Being, Cultural Competency, and Medication Administration. The role also entails completing all tasks assigned by managers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • NC Driver's License
  • 21 years of age or older
  • No experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and monitor clients while dressing, bathing, toileting, and in all other aspects of self-care.
  • Assist and monitor clients during meals to ensure utilization of family style dining.
  • Assist and monitor clients in all aspects of housekeeping responsibilities (Clothing care, house cleaning, and yard care).
  • Assist and monitor clients in preparing meals and nutritional supplements.
  • Assist and monitor clients in the administration of prescribed medication without error.
  • Assist and monitor clients in the implementation of prescribed diet orders and utilization of adaptive equipment.
  • Implement and follow all established behavior programs, data collection, and established safety procedures.
  • Assist and monitor clients in appropriate active treatment including training objective plans, recording data, and implementing service goals.
  • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team and to communicate appropriate clients information as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Transport and monitor clients on Company vehicles as directed.
  • Assist and monitor clients during community outings.
  • Assist and monitor clients during participation at school and day program activities.
  • Attend staff development classes as scheduled and successfully complete test required competency testing (MANDT, CPR, First Aid, Safe Van Driving, Promotion of Consumer Well Being, Cultural Competency and Medication Administration).
  • Complete all tasks assigned by managers.
