About The Position

A Direct Support Professional (DSP) works closely with individuals who have disabilities to help them lead independent and fulfilling lives. DSPs aid with activities of daily living (ADL) and development of life skills, while assisting individuals to gain community access. DSP responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid, current driver's license with an acceptable record
  • Reliable transportation and proof of insurance

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with their ADLs including personal hygiene, medication administration, housekeeping, and preparing/serving meals.
  • Provide support in fulfilling the client’s interests in community integration, companionship, and relationship building.
  • Ensure the clients receive proper care by adhering to their individual plan of care.
  • Assist with general health.
  • Maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist in developing and carrying out goals.
  • Provide transportation as necessary.
  • Follow UCPRI policies and procedures.
  • Maintain certifications and training.
  • Complete mandatory paperwork as required.
