Be supportive, positive and encouraging in meeting the needs of those with developmental disabilities as you assist them in working on gaining further independence. Encourage and foster individuals’ preferred hobbies, interests and self-determined choices. Assist with and work to strengthen the individuals’ daily living needs, including but not limited to: nutrition, hygiene, exercise, communication, and socialization skills Help individuals to bathe, groom and dress, eat and drink if necessary, always working to improve self-reliance and independence. Work with the Individual being served to create goals, track progress and report findings to superiors. Encourage the Individuals involvement in the local community and encourage community inclusion based on their interests and preferences. Develop meaningful relationships and connections with clients to make them feel cared for and included in the community. Follow all health and safety protocols as designated. Assist the Individuals in maintaining a sanitary and tidy home. Attend continuing education courses and training as the role requires. Be a compassionate, patient, and encouraging support professional at all times
