About The Position

Deer Valley Home Health Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The DSP will provide personalized care and support in a safe and nurturing environment. This role is essential in helping our clients achieve greater independence by assisting with daily tasks, teaching life skills, and promoting community engagement.

Requirements

  • Current and active CPR AND First Aid Certification
  • Driver's License
  • Social Security Card or Birth Certificate
  • Med Level 1
  • Vehicle Insurance
  • Must be registered on the Family Care Safety Registry
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Compassionate and patient with a genuine interest in helping others.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable transportation for client appointments and activities.
  • Ability to handle physical tasks and provide assistance with mobility, personal care, and hygiene.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional training or certifications in healthcare, social work, or related fields a plus.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a residential or community setting.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, showering, toileting, and dressing.
  • Support clients with grocery shopping, meal preparation, and managing money.
  • Teach clients life skills, encouraging independence and helping them learn tasks they can perform on their own.
  • Assist with mobility, including ambulation and feeding when necessary.
  • Monitor the health and well-being of clients, including performing routine medical and health-related tasks as directed.
  • Transport clients to and from medical appointments, day programs, and community activities, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Work collaboratively with other interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive care and support for clients.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for individuals under care.
  • Document and report any changes in the client’s health, behavior, or environment to appropriate team members.
  • Ensure clients’ personal rights, dignity, and privacy are respected at all times.
