Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; or completion of a state approved training program; or demonstrate skills and receive a passing score on a written competency test
Successful background check and required in-service trainings
At least 18 years old
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance, inspection and registration
Ability to work safely and respectfully in clients’ homes and communities
Compassion, reliability, and a desire to make a positive impact

Responsibilities

Reading, understanding and following the client’s Individual Support Plan (ISP), and reporting back to the IDD Program Specialist
Supporting individuals with daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, personal care (i.e. grooming, hygiene etc.), or transportation
Encouraging participation in social and community activities – shopping, social events etc.
Helping people achieve personal goals and celebrating progress
Promoting choice, independence, and self-advocacy
Accurately documenting care, activities, and progress
Communicating with team members to ensure consistent, quality support
