About The Position

Join Easterseals PORT Health as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) and play a vital role in empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential homes. As a DSP, you’ll bring your compassion, flexibility, and dedication to multiple group homes, providing consistent care and support where it’s needed most. Requirements

  • Entry-level experience, on-the-job training is provided
  • A High school diploma or GED is required
  • Basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols knowledge
  • Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability
  • Proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
  • Reliable transportation and current auto insurance

Responsibilities

  • Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in
  • Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning
  • Assist with personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers
  • Assist with employment support
  • Transport the client to appointments and run errands
  • Help plan and organize their schedule
  • Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record
