About The Position

Direct Support Staff provide compassionate, hands-on support to individuals with disabilities and/or special needs. The role focuses on assisting individuals with daily living activities, promoting independence, ensuring safety, and supporting personal goals in home and community environments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 21 years of age
• Ability to pass criminal background checks and reference verification
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• Ability to lift, reposition, and assist clients as needed
• Strong communication skills and a caring, professional demeanor
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
• Ability to manage challenging behaviors calmly and professionally
• Emotional resilience and compassion

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Support meal preparation, feeding, and medication reminders
• Provide community integration support, including transportation and participation in activities
• Follow individual service plans (ISPs) and care plans
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment
• Monitor and document behaviors, progress, and incidents accurately
• Use positive behavior support strategies when needed
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, and care teams
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies and regulations
