About The Position

Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join their team at a program in Philadelphia, PA. The role is suitable for caregivers, direct care workers, or home health aides. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to create long-term impacts on individuals' lives, encouraging, mentoring, and coaching them to achieve their goals. The position involves spending days in various settings, including parks and sensory gardens, to work on social and communication skills, enhance independence by assisting with daily hygiene and personal care, and foster pride by teaching daily living activities like housekeeping and laundry, all while following an Individual Support Plan.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Must have a desire to help others reach their fullest potential

Nice To Haves

Experience in a home health aide setting, or school setting working with people who have Intellectual and Developmental disabilities is preferred
Dual Diagnosis experience is preferred

Responsibilities

Encourage, mentor, and coach individuals to achieve their goals
Make memories with individuals in a variety of settings
Work on social and communication skills (e.g., at the park and sensory gardens)
Enhance independence by assisting with daily hygiene and personal care
Teach individuals to navigate daily living activities, such as housekeeping and laundry
Follow the Individual Support Plan
