About The Position

Advocates is seeking a Mentor (DSP/support staff) to support two gentlemen with developmental disabilities by providing overnight supervision, which will allow them to live independently in their own home. This is an asleep position, with the responsibilities of providing health and safety needs to the gentlemen, especially in case of emergencies. Seeking a DSP who is reliable to show up consistently, dependable in times of need, and able to communicate with family and the circle of support on a regular basis. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with resume or summary of experience. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address. Hours and days of work Monday, Tuesday Wednesday, and Thursday (10 PM - 8 AM) Full-time opportunities may be available. Pay rate: $16 per hour since mentor is paid for a sleeping position at the indirect rate. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid email address.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required for the job assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Make sure the gentlemen complete nighttime routines and transition to their rooms to get to sleep.
  • Monitor to make sure health and safety needs are met throughout the night.
  • Support them in case of emergencies by making sure the gentlemen get out of the house to a safe spot, and helping to contact emergency services.
  • Support the gentlemen with waking up, getting breakfast and helping prepare them for the day for work or when daytime staff show up.
