A Direct Support Professional ensures individuals' health, safety and welfare, enhances the quality of individuals' lives, and supports community inclusion. This role involves ultimate responsibility for client programming and care, including providing adequate food, shelter, and clothing, offering first aid and nursing assistance as needed, and instructing residents in daily living skills. The professional will also be responsible for lifting, transferring, and positioning clients as prescribed, preparing meals, intervening in crisis situations, supporting community outings, monitoring and dispensing medications, and implementing programs as written by the Program Coordinator. Additionally, the role requires timely and accurate documentation of client care and programming, assisting with residence cleanliness, adhering to universal precautions, demonstrating scheduling flexibility, protecting client confidentiality, participating in required trainings, and professionally representing Citizen Advocates, Inc. with families, other organizations, and the community.
