About The Position

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will enhance the quality of life for people with developmental disabilities by assisting, instructing, and supporting individuals living in residences to be as independent as possible. This role involves promoting the health, safety and well-being of the individuals while building positive, meaningful relationships. You will advocate for individuals in residences to communicate their wants/needs, and integrate them into the community for recreation. Tasks include performing light housekeeping, helping individuals plan nutritious meals, and administering medications as needed. The position also requires participation in regularly scheduled trainings to enhance skills and knowledge to continue to support the individuals in the best way possible.

Requirements

Ability to perform all job functions
Valid New York State driver’s license that meets the Agency’s driving policy
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Be a positive role model for people with disabilities and other staff
