About The Position

Merakey is seeking Direct Support Professionals to join their team at a program in VA. This role is an opportunity for individuals, including those with backgrounds as Caregivers, Direct Care Workers, or Home Health aides, to create long-term impacts on consumers' lives. The ideal candidate will encourage, mentor, and coach individuals to achieve their goals, spending days in various settings making memories. Responsibilities include following Individual Support Plans, working on social and communication skills in places like parks and sensory gardens, enhancing independence through assistance with daily hygiene and personal care, and fostering pride by teaching daily living activities such as housekeeping and laundry. No experience is required as paid training is provided. Merakey is a non-profit provider of developmental, behavioral health, and education services, with over 8,000 employees supporting nearly 40,000 individuals and families across 12 states.

Requirements

• HS Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to operate a vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

• 1+ year experience in a home health aide setting or school setting working with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities
