About The Position

A 23-year-old male is looking for a DSP in the Syracuse area to support him with learning independent living skills such as money management, positive communication skills, and household chores skills. The individual is a young man who lives independently. He enjoys going out to eat and having breakfast with staff. He also enjoys accessing the YMCA where he is able exercise while practicing good communication skills with staff and peers. He enjoys sticking to a routine. He likes watching TV, playing video games, playing games on his phone, YouTube videos, animals, and the NYS Fair. He enjoys walking at Onondaga Lake Park, going to the MOST, Dave and Buster's, Destiny USA, libraries, Planet Fitness and bowling. The ideal candidate is creative and engaging, active and patient, and willing to travel to different locations. This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services at the agency. Hours and days of work: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, anytime Starting pay: CH 1 - Starting pay is $18.50/hour and increases with years of relevant experience. Location: Syracuse, NY

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Ability to work independently in the person’s home and/or community.
Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
No experience required but experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance are required; acceptable driving record required.
Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community.
Must have a valid drivers license
