About The Position

To assist individuals who meet eligibility criteria set by The Department of Developmental Services succeed in the Day and/or In Home Supports Program. The Direct Support Professional reports to the Program Manager and/or the Program Coordinator

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid CT driver's license and auto insurance.
Demonstrate leaderships skills including effective problem solving, planning and organizing.
Knowledge of related state and federal regulations.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to perform a physical restraint.
Some physical activities including, but not limited to lifting, pushing, pulling and alternate sit/stand
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Requires pushing pulling
Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care to individuals with developmental disabilities in various home, recreational and vocational settings
Maintain and submit timely and accurate written documentation including, but not limited to individual progress, behavioral data, and administrative documentation in electronic databases
Participate in recreational activities and outings with individuals
Assist individuals with daily chores and activities of daily living
Participate in all routine residence maintenance as is appropriate within normal context of home ownership
Provide financial, life skills, and Activities of Daily Life education
Ability to obtain and maintain all company provided trainings and certifications (DDS/CPR/First Aid)
Accompany and transport individuals to and from medical appointments
Adhere to all agency policies
Maintain confidentiality
Some lifting may be required
Other duties as may be assigned
Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
