About The Position

Want to make a difference in the lives of others? Become a Direct Support Professional with Skill Creations, Inc., a nonprofit agency helping people with disabilities reach their personal goals. Currently seeking an active, playful individual for one overnight shift and 6-8 hours of daytime services per week. Option to increase hours in June to 2-3 overnight shifts and 22-24 hours of daytime services per week. Overnight shifts run from 6pm-10am. $175 per night , including sleeping time. $20/hr during daytime services. The person you would be supporting is friendly and playful. She enjoys movies, bowling, mermaids, and karaoke. She values engaging relationships and having fun. Her highly active lifestyle is indispensable to her; she spends hours each day hiking, walking, attending Crossfit, and working out at the gym. A good candidate for this position has: A willingness and ability to join her active lifestyle. Strong senses of humor and adventure. A fun, creative attitude with an active imagination. An ability to maintain boundaries when occasionally tested. The role includes: Prompting and assisting with her morning and evening routines. Exercising alongside her to provide encouragement. Cooking meals with her assistance. Assisting her in maintaining her apartment. Utilizing her incentive programs to provide motivation, ease difficult transitions, and reward behavior. Monitoring her health and safety.

Requirements

• High School, GED, or College Transcript from an accredited school.
• Valid NC Driver’s license and acceptable Driving Record.
• Criminal Record Check.
• Completion of paid training in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
• Basic computer skills for e-mail, electronic training modules, and data recording.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds, and to occasionally balance, bend, stoop, and kneel.
• Prompt and regular attendance.
• Includes working during inclement weather and some holidays.
• Ability to meet client-specific needs.
