About The Position

We are a private, not for profit human service agency serving the Connecticut shoreline towns of Branford, North Branford, Guilford, Madison and Clinton. We provide residential supports for individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities in both In-home Supports or Group Home settings. We are looking for multiple Direct Support Professionals to work in group home settings as caregivers for our individuals with intellectual disabilities. We have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift openings available. There is full-time, part time, and per diem available. You may inquire on our agency website for a better description of the work that we do. Requirements
- High School diploma or GED is a requirement.
- Valid State of Connecticut drivers license required with clean driving record.
- Own vehicle for work purposes as needed.
- Med certification through DDS required for all permanent positions (within 6 months of hire)
- Weekend availability is a must
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated knowledge of intellectual disabilities preferred.
- Working knowledge of ADL skills preferred. (i.e. banking, food preparation, housekeeping, money management)
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal care, grocery shopping, transportation, etc.
- Assist individuals with completing chores and other activities of daily living at home
- Administer medications via State of Connecticut Medication Administration Certification.
- Support and oversee medical appointments, daily programming, and financial management.
- Transport individuals to and from appointments and activities.
- Assist individuals in choosing and attending recreation activities.
- Teamwork and good judgment is important to this role.
- PMT supports as needed.
- Maintain certifications to provide CPR and First Aid as needed
