(previously named The Woodmont Weavers program) is a program that has been supporting individuals with disabilities in the Arlington community for over 50 years! Participants within the program learn to weave and produce handcrafted woven art and includes color tote bags, pencil cases and so much more. One hundred percent of the proceeds for each item are given to the artisan who created it. We are proudly hiring a compassionate and creative Direct Support Professional with an interest in learning to weave so that we can grow our team and expand the services we offer to the Arlington Community. What We Offer! We are pleased to offer 8-hour day shifts, Monday – Friday with internal upward mobility opportunities. Requirements

• High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
• Minimum one (1) year of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or working in a related field.
• Must pass the State of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) fingerprinting and criminal background check.
• Must pass the ODD (Orientation to Developmental Disabilities) assessment and competencies.
• Employees who drive individuals in the community or on behalf of the company must possess a current and valid driver's license.
• Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR). Driving requirements vary by site. If eligible to drive, must pass the online driving training within 15 days of hire.
• Physical ability to support participants with personal care (feeding, toileting, transferring, etc.).
• Ability to relate well to people at all levels of an organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, and the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software, such as Microsoft Teams or ZOOM.
• Ability to solve practical problems and adapt to new information and guidance quickly.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to carry out work with the highest levels of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of behavior intervention principles.
• Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide active engagement and support for all individuals assigned (in-person or virtually), including but not limited to community integration and inclusion, training, leisure, communication, mobility, behavior, personal care (feeding, restroom supports, etc.), bus loading and unloading, medication, safety and risk management.
• Provide input and implement Person Centered Plans (PCP) outcomes, support activities, and protocols as written in order to ensure a safe and healthy environment, proper documentation, and progress.
• Provide and maintain accurate information and electronic documentation for the PCP, quarterly reports, and daily notes according to regulatory and company standards. Inform the Program Manager or designee of missing or inaccurate information immediately.
• Responsible for a safe, clean, and orderly environment. Immediately report any unsafe conditions, medical concerns to the Program Manager or designee. Follow established written protocols and plans. Report any allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation according to ServiceSource policies and procedures. Complete incident reports and adhere to health and safety regulations.
• Utilize basic computer literacy skills to log into a computer, send and receive emails with or without attachments, simple navigation of an internet browser to complete e-learning and training modules, open and save documents through Microsoft Word, and navigate internet-based software to complete and maintain all electronic documentation for the PCP, regulatory, and company standards. Verbally and electronically (via email) communicate with family members, guardians, authorized representatives, residential providers and support coordinators regarding participant’s illness, incidents, and progress at the direction of the Program Manager or designee. Keep team members apprised of any concerns.
• Maintain participant records, daily notes, quarterly reports, per Medicaid, Licensure, and CARF standards. Participate and/or provide input for the PCP process (plan, quarterlies, daily notes) and work in conjunction with the team in the implementation, monitoring and review of the individual’s written plan. Utilize appropriate behavior intervention techniques, proper lifting, feeding, and transferring techniques as written. Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
