Role Overview: As a Direct Support Professional, you will work directly with individuals with disabilities, supporting their participation in the Old Saybrook Day Program. In this dynamic role, you will help individuals achieve their goals, foster life skills, and engage with their community in meaningful ways. Your compassion and commitment will provide the foundation for a positive and enriching experience for each person in our care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a caregiving role.
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor.

Nice To Haves

• High School Diploma. Ideally, some post-secondary education in human services, social work, or a related field.
• Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to changing client needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with achieving personal goals and growth, including skill-building activities, recreational programs, and community integration.
• Provide hands-on support with daily activities, such as personal care, mealtime assistance, and mobility needs.
• Foster an uplifting and respectful environment that celebrates each person's abilities and individual potential.
• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all program participants while promoting their independence.
• Document daily progress, observations, and activities as required by UCP policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with team members and families to develop and maintain individualized care plans.
• Transport individuals from program to their home using the agency handicap accessible van.
