About The Position

Merakey is seeking Caregivers / Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join their team at a program in Redding, CA. This opportunity is for individuals who are currently Caregivers, Direct Care Workers, Home Health aides, or aspire to be one, with immediate hiring available. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) at Merakey interact with and support individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings, including community, family, or individual homes and generic community environments. The role involves providing a level of care that enhances the health, safety, dignity, and contentment of every consumer by assisting and training individuals in personal care, communication, and social skill development. Specifically, this position offers direct support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities who also have co-occurring medical support needs, within a residential setting. Merakey is a non-profit organization that provides developmental, behavioral health, and education services, employing over 8,000 individuals who support nearly 40,000 individuals and families across 12 states annually. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • A valid driver's license is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) preferred, especially personal hygiene, grooming, and bathing
  • Prior experience in a caregiving, personal care assistant, or home health aide role is a PLUS!

Responsibilities

  • Provide the personal care and support to clients who live in the home
  • Assist with activities of daily living and personal hygiene needs including toileting and incontinence care, bathing, dressing, and grooming, while maintaining dignity and privacy
  • Perform light housekeeping, meal preparation and feeding, and companionship
  • Help with ambulation, transferring and range of motion exercises
  • Ensure a safe home environment with unobstructed pathways
  • Participate in activities that bring clients joy such as puzzles, games, reading and attending day program
  • Interact and support individuals with development disabilities in a variety of potential settings including community, family or individual homes and generic community settings
  • Assist and train individuals in the areas of personal care, communication, and social skill development
  • Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities with co-occurring medical support needs in a residential setting
