About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing direct care to older adults, particularly those with disabilities, in a program setting. This role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for individuals by engaging them in meaningful activities, ensuring their health and safety, and supporting their personal development. The DSP works under the supervision of the Residential Coordinator and is integral to the implementation of individual support plans and the overall mission of Delta Community Supports.

Requirements

• Successful completion of background screenings and clearances including Criminal History and fingerprinting.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English; perform arithmetical calculations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to use office equipment such as telephone, copier, and computer.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals, facilitating their growth and development.
• Knowledge of supervisory and administrative principles and methods.
• Valid driver's license with three years of satisfactory driving history.
• Ability to frequently lift up to fifty pounds.

Nice To Haves

• First Aid and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Engage individuals according to Delta's mission.
• Utilize programmatic resources effectively.
• Promote and demonstrate ethical and professional conduct at all times.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and performance measures.
• Ensure the implementation of high-quality individual support plans.
• Promote and follow Delta's Risk Management Program for health and safety.
• Engage individuals in meaningful activities at home and in the community.
• Maintain daily operations of the home, including meal preparation and cleanliness standards.
• Assist individuals with basic living activities such as nutrition and socialization.
• Act as a role model in areas such as appearance and emotional stability.
• Encourage individuals to progress towards their outcomes and record data.
• Contribute to the interdisciplinary process for assessing and developing individual objectives and outcomes.
• Complete and submit required records and forms in a timely manner.
• Communicate continuously with the Supervisor.
• Secure the home and its contents by following prescribed standards.
• Maintain the proper staff ratio as per the ISPs of all individuals.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures, including reporting unsafe conditions.
• Participate in training on health and safety issues yearly.
• Administer medications as per procedure and report errors.
• Transport individuals as required and cooperate with investigations.
