About The Position

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License with no more than five points.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities.
  • Provide emotional support and build positive relationships.
  • Support individuals to meet personal goals that enhance quality of life.
  • Engage in respectful communication and encourage social interactions.
  • Supervise, protect, and care for individuals at all times.
  • Facilitate learning and training in fire safety.
  • Identify and escalate signs of potential harm to self or others.
  • Implement person-centered, individualized plans.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment.
  • Assist with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Teach and develop habilitative and rehabilitative skills.
  • Facilitate ethical decision making and support person-centered advocacy.
  • Plan and prepare balanced meals according to dietary restrictions.
  • Transport and escort individuals to various activities and appointments.
  • Administer medication as prescribed and manage medication inventory.
  • Schedule medical appointments and ensure follow-up.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on individuals’ observable behavior.
  • Communicate with circles of support to provide updates.
  • Complete necessary trainings and certifications.
  • Review communication logs and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Report maintenance and safety concerns to supervisors.
