Direct Support Professional Specialist - Part Time
About The Position
As a Specialist, you will support our people served with daily activities that include working on outcomes designed for each person served at a variety of residential group homes. Outcomes are designed to increase independence in skills. These may include learning more about community resources, finding hobbies, working on personal cares, and meal preparations/planning or budgeting. We tailor our services to each person and their needs and wishes. Additionally, as a Specialist, the position entails medication administration, cooking, cleaning, and personal cares for persons served.
Requirements
- 21 years of age or older
- Proficient in spoken and written English language
- Comfortable providing personal cares (including but not limited to: bathroom supports, bathing/showering, medication administration)
- Successful clearance of Department of Human Services background check
- Successful clearance of Motor Vehicle Background Check and acceptable driving record per Company Policy
- This position requires 2 years of experience with mental health diagnosis and intellectual disabilities, and experience with high behaviors including verbal and physical aggressions.
Nice To Haves
- At least 2 years supporting individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, and/or mental health diagnosis
- At least 2 years working with individuals with verbal and physical aggressions
- Experience implementing Emergency Use of Manuel Restraints (applicable at select programs)
- Preferred, not required in all roles, have a vehicle to use for work related purposes.
