About The Position

The position involves the overall supervision, protection, and care of individuals with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include maintaining house rules, facilitating learning in fire safety, and identifying signs of potential harm. The role requires providing support in various settings according to individualized service and behavior support plans, ensuring health and safety, and managing crisis situations. The individual will assist in personal care, activities of daily living, medication administration, and support person-centered advocacy. The position also involves maintaining a clean and organized work environment, implementing COVID mitigation protocols, and engaging individuals in social activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License may be required based on position/location.
  • Must hold or obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within one year of appointment.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (e.g., social work, psychology).
  • Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
  • Valid Driver’s License strongly preferred for California assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, protect, and care for individuals at all times.
  • Facilitate learning and training in fire safety.
  • Identify and escalate signs of potential harm to self or others.
  • Provide support according to individualized service and behavior support plans.
  • Ensure health, wellness, and safety through appropriate supervision.
  • Manage crisis situations adhering to policies and regulations.
  • Implement Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs) and Individualized Program Plans (IPPs).
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Utilize safe handling procedures and implement infection control protocols.
  • Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths and interests.
  • Support individuals in meeting personal goals and engaging in social activities.
  • Provide personal care and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Facilitate ethical decision making and support communication.
  • Plan and prepare balanced meals according to dietary restrictions.
  • Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities and appointments.
  • Complete and maintain necessary trainings and documentation.
  • Participate in the development of treatment plans and collect data on individual behavior.
