About the position

The position involves the overall supervision, protection, and care of individuals with moderate to complex needs. Responsibilities include maintaining house rules, facilitating learning in fire safety, and identifying signs of potential harm. The role requires providing support in various settings according to individualized service and behavior support plans, ensuring health and safety through appropriate supervision, and managing crisis situations. The position also entails implementing protective oversight plans and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Staff are expected to assist individuals in maximizing their strengths and interests, uphold personal rights, and provide emotional support while fostering positive relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, protect, and care for individuals at all times.
  • Facilitate learning and training in fire safety.
  • Identify and escalate signs of potential harm to self or others.
  • Provide support according to individualized service and behavior support plans.
  • Ensure health, wellness, and safety through appropriate supervision.
  • Manage crisis situations adhering to policies and regulations.
  • Implement Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs) and Individualized Program Plans (IPPs).
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Utilize safe handling procedures and implement COVID mitigation protocols.
  • Assist individuals in maximizing strengths and interests.
  • Support personal goals that enhance quality of life.
  • Facilitate activities that promote social connections.
  • Provide personal care and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Support person-centered advocacy and communication.
  • Plan and prepare balanced meals according to dietary restrictions.
  • Transport and escort individuals for activities and appointments.
  • Safeguard personal allowance funds.
  • Complete necessary training and maintain compliance with policies.
  • Review communication logs and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain a therapeutic environment using various methods.
  • Participate in team meetings and consult with program leadership.
  • Collect and summarize data on individual behavior.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License may be required based on position/location.
  • Must hold or obtain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within one year of appointment.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field (e.g., social work, psychology).
  • Knowledge of intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
  • Valid Driver’s License strongly preferred for California assignments.
