About The Position

Southeastern Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) is looking for kind, reliable, and mission-driven individuals to join our team as Part Time Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In this hourly, wage-based role, you’ll provide essential care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those who exhibit maladaptive behaviors. At Southeastern Virginia Training Center (SEVTC) we serve citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are an intermediate care facility operated by the Department of Behavioral health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) where we support individuals in state-of-the-art homes with accommodations unique to their specific needs. Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be dependable, accountable, and reliable
  • Must have ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Must have ability to work with an integrated team.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have active, valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, and other disabilities
  • Prior experience working with medically fragile individuals.
  • Prior experience as a Direct Support Professional, a Certified Nursing Assistant, or similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities such as hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and communication.
  • Provide emotional and behavioral support to individuals with maladaptive behaviors.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans as developed by the interdisciplinary team.
  • Promote independence and self-determination in a safe and structured environment.
  • Collaborate with clinical, nursing, and support staff to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow established safety procedures.
