About The Position

New Vista Hazelwood is seeking direct caregivers to support its population of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position is ideal for individuals with a passion for caregiving or those interested in starting a career in healthcare. The Hazelwood Center is an Intermediate Care Facility that supports the long-term care needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities. The Direct Support Professional role is vital to the safety, happiness, and well-being of clients, providing assistance directly to clients and the Nursing department based on each client’s individual needs.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Ability to meet criminal background and drug screening standards (NO Felony, NO pending Court dates)
Must be 23 years or older
Must have valid drivers license
Must be able to speak, read and write in English language.

Nice To Haves

Preferred active (SRNA) State Registered Nursing Aide license
Preferred at least 1 year experience working with IDD population

Responsibilities

Responsible for taking/ driving individuals to medical appointments in company provided van.
Assist with in-house specialty clinics
Ensure paperwork for outside medical appointments is placed on unit medical calendars.
Upkeep of floor charts
Organizing nursing section of clients Lifebook monthly
Stocking nursing items
Ensuring total fluid intakes are correct
Other job duties as assigned
Attends in-service training programs and participates in drills for and responds to facility emergencies.
