About The Position
A 22-year-old male in the Downtown Syracuse area is looking for a Direct Support Professional to assist him with learning his phone number, reviewing safety skills, encouragement to respond to others who contact him, assistance with finding new activities to try, and skills for independence. He enjoys going to parks to practice baseball, bowling, taking walks, and talking about Star Wars, airplanes and building things. He has been enjoying volunteering at animal's shelters and attending Funtastic Fridays. He is looking for new activities to try in the community and needs encouragement to step out of his comfort zone. The ideal candidate should be creative, engaging, patient, active, willing to go to parks for walks/ practicing baseball, and willing to travel to different locations. This is a part-time position, but additional hours are available with other people receiving services. at the agency. Hours and days of work: Thursday and Fridays, 9am-3pm (cannot exceed 6 hours of services per day) Starting pay: CH 1, Starting pay is $18.50/hour and increases with years of relevant experience. Location: Syracuse, NY
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to work independently in the person's home and/or community.
- Reliable with effective communication and organizational skills
- New York State Driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance is required; acceptable driving record required.
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community
- Must have a valid drivers license

- Flexibility with assignments and schedule required.
- Reliable transportation to arrive to job site at scheduled time.
- Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and abide by ARISE/EFR'S technology policy.
Nice To Haves
- No experience required but experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
