Here at ABiLITY, becoming a Direct Support Professional (LO-DSP) in our Life Ops Day Program allows you to be part of a team in a fun, long-lasting, and rewarding career—they act as a connection between people with developmental disabilities and their communities. LO-DSPs work alongside people and support them in: becoming integrated and involved in their world, being valued for who they are, gaining independence, and following their dreams. We enhance lives here. While working in a supported day program setting in Union, MO, our DSPs also assist individuals with their activities of daily living (ADLs). These include skills that are necessary to meet basic physical needs; personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, ambulating, and eating. These also include some more complex activities like managing finances, medication management, housekeeping, and physical and mental exercise. The LO-DSP works within the individual’s ISP plans to assist them in achieving goals and outcomes.
