About The Position

Being a Direct Support Professional Emergent Float is more than just helping someone with their daily activities, it is assisting someone to live a meaningful life. The Direct Support Professional Emergent Float assists designated Mountain Valley Developmental Services’ residential homes with staffing needs. These homes support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position provides staffing coverage to fill open shifts due to staff paid time off or vacancy. The Direct Support Professional Emergent Float reports to the Residential Area Supervisor and must work a minimum of 40 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Flexibility is a MUST. Full-time guaranteed hours. Must be available to work a varied schedule – including weekdays, weeknights, weekends and holidays. Must have the flexibility to change schedules as necessary to fill immediate shift needs of the program. As much as possible a schedule may be determined a week in advance, however the position is subject to short term schedule changes. Emergent Float DSPs must commit to 4, 8, 10, or 12hr shifts at multiple houses to equal 40 hours per week. Must meet all Mountain Valley Developmental Services training requirements for each group home and individuals served.
  • You must have access to a reliable vehicle and be able to commute to our group homes in Rifle, Rulison, Glenwood Springs and Battlement Mesa, Colorado.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
  • A criminal and Motor Vehicle record which meets company standards.
  • A valid Colorado Driver’s license.
  • Verified legal status to work in the United States.
  • COVID – 19 Vaccination

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant/Aide training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Respect each resident’s rights within the program and treat all clients with dignity and respect
  • Report changes in the health or status of the individual
  • Respond to emergency situations
  • Assist with personal care such as showering and toileting
  • Provide support with hobbies, studies, and social activities
  • Transport and support out in the community: outings/field trips, and shopping
  • Assist with daily living skills including meal preparation and assist with medication administration
  • Provide guidance on a range of developmental goals from community participation, household budgeting, exercise, nutrition, and supporting vocational responsibilities
  • Support persons served with living skills such as personal hygiene, grooming, toileting and/or bathing
  • Household duties
  • Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices
