The role also involves managing crisis situations and ensuring health, wellness, and safety through appropriate supervision. The employee will provide support in various settings according to individualized service and behavior support plans, demonstrating the OPWDD Core Competencies. The position requires maintaining a clean and safe therapeutic environment, implementing infection control protocols, and assisting with personal care and daily living activities. Additional responsibilities include administering medication, teaching skills, supporting advocacy, and facilitating ethical decision-making. The employee will also transport individuals to various activities and appointments, safeguard personal funds, and develop specialized clinical knowledge for individual needs. The role includes data collection, reporting changes in behavior, and participating in team meetings to ensure quality care. The employee will utilize approved training techniques to respond to challenging behaviors and may be required to operate a YAI vehicle for transportation. The schedule includes part-time and full-time options with varying shifts.

  • Observe and report changes in behavior to the clinical team.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide feedback.
  • Complete necessary trainings and certifications.
  • Utilize approved training techniques to respond to challenging behaviors.
  • Provide coverage for other direct support staff as needed.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain SCIP-R certification within one year.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain additional required certifications within one year.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours as needed.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Van certification for transportation assignments.
  • High school diploma or its educational equivalent.
  • Work or life experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • $18.10/hour compensation.
