About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides individualized support, supervision, and assistance to adults with developmental disabilities in home and community settings. The DSP promotes independence, community integration, and quality of life by implementing person-centered service plans, supporting daily living activities, and ensuring health and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Montana driver’s license (if transporting individuals).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (must be obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • Completion of all Montana DDP-mandated training prior to providing unsupervised services.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with transfers or mobility as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to pass Montana DDP-required criminal background checks and exclusion screenings.
  • Reliable transportation (if required for the position).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Experience in human services, caregiving, or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and supervision to individuals in accordance with their Individual Service Plan (ISP)
  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and housekeeping.
  • Support individuals in accessing community resources, recreational activities, and employment opportunities.
  • Implement behavior support plans and use positive, least-restrictive interventions.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of individuals at all times.
  • Accurately document services provided, progress notes, incidents, and other required records.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals, families, team members, and supervisors.
  • Participate in required training, staff meetings, and professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and DDP regulations.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety protocols.
