Empowered Services provides individualized, one-on-one support in home and community settings for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We hire and train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to deliver dependable, person-centered care that promotes independence, builds daily living skills, and supports meaningful community engagement. We are seeking an entry-level DSP / Caregiver to provide engaging, hands-on support for an adult in the McMinnville area. (No prior DSP experience required—paid training provided.) This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys being active, socially engaged, and involved in planning meaningful outings, while also providing attentive, supportive care. This is a hands-on role that combines community engagement with consistent physical and medical support. This position centers around: Supporting community outings and social experiences Assisting with personal care and mobility needs Encouraging participation through choice and engagement Providing attentive supervision and safety awareness Supporting communication through observation and responsiveness You’ll be working with a kind, expressive, and socially motivated individual who enjoys connection, creativity, and meaningful experiences. She: Is nonverbal and communicates through eye contact, facial expressions, and body language Uses a wheelchair and requires consistent physical support Enjoys spending time with friends and family and being part of social activities Has a great sense of humor and a calm, engaging personality She loves: Community outings like movies, bowling, and local activities Swimming and water-based activities whenever possible Creative experiences like spa days, hair/nails, and fashion (especially pink, purple, and sparkly styles) Music, cooking shows, and reality TV This role involves hands-on, attentive support in both home and community settings. Key considerations: She may vocalize loudly at times; a calm, patient response is important Requires time to process and respond, providers should move at her pace and avoid rushing interactions Strong emphasis on dignity, respect, and flexibility in all support Physical and medical support includes: Assistance with mobility and positioning Daily physical therapy exercises Medication administration Following established seizure and medical support protocols Tube feeding support Monitoring body language for signs of discomfort or pain If this sounds like a role you’d enjoy and feel confident in, we’d love to connect and learn more about you.
