About The Position
Advancing Opportunities, an affiliate of Apis Services, is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities achieve full participation in society. Our mission is to empower individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities to develop life skills, independence, and confidence. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Direct Support Specialists (DSPs) in Jackson, NJ. In this role, you will provide hands-on assistance, guidance, and mentorship to men with disabilities in a residential setting.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license
- 20 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Consent to state and federal criminal background checks
- Drug screen, pre-employment physical, and PPD
- Completion of all required orientation and pre-service training
Responsibilities
- Support residents in daily living skills: cooking, housekeeping, budgeting, shopping, and healthy living
- Provide personal care, medical support, and hygiene guidance
- Encourage social skills, coping strategies, and community engagement
- Mentor residents in building friendships, independence, and confidence
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured environment
