About The Position

As a Direct Support Professional , you play a pivotal role in enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You provide direct support and patient care, assisting with activities of daily living and implementing behavior management strategies. Your work fosters independence, promotes well-being, and ensures a safe and supportive environment for those we serve.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Experience in direct support , patient care , or a related field preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) is a plus.
• Knowledge/Skills: Strong communication skills , both verbal and written.
• Ability to implement behavior management techniques effectively.
• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADL) and personal care practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrates empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in CPR and First Aid .
• Additional training or certification in direct support or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct support and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in their daily routines and activities.
• Assists with activities of daily living (ADL) , including personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
• Implements behavior management plans and strategies to support positive behavior and ensure safety.
• Delivers compassionate patient care , attending to the physical, emotional, and social needs of individuals.
• Fosters a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes independence and personal growth.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation of services provided and individual progress.
• Communicates effectively with individuals, families, and other members of the support team.
• Participates in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Adheres to all agency policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
