About The Position

Empowered Services provides one-on-one in-home and community-based support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Our focus is on helping people build independence, maintain routines, and stay connected to their communities in meaningful ways. We are hiring an Independent Living Support Specialist (DSP) to provide consistent, structured support for an adult in the Eugene, OR area. This role centers around: Supporting daily routines and household structure Assisting with community-based activities and errands Providing calm, steady guidance during moments of stress Encouraging independence while maintaining clear expectations This is a strong fit for someone who is consistent, patient, and confident maintaining boundaries in a supportive way. You’ll be working with an individual who: Values routine, structure, and clear expectations Enjoys community outings like grocery shopping and local markets Also appreciates quiet time at home with her cats Benefits from predictability, organization, and respectful communication She does best with a provider who can: Maintain consistent routines and expectations Communicate clearly and calmly, especially during emotional moments Provide guidance with processing emotions and redirecting behavior Support a clean, organized, and structured home environment

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements)
  • Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying)
  • Comfortable supporting personal care needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in caregiving, DSP, or behavioral support roles
  • Experience supporting individuals with I/DD
  • Strong communication and boundary-setting skills
  • CPR/First Aid certification

Responsibilities

  • Support daily living routines (meals, hygiene, organization)
  • Assist with community access (shopping, errands, outings)
  • Provide emotional regulation support using calm, structured approaches
  • Maintain clear boundaries and consistent expectations
  • Assist with household upkeep and organization
  • Encourage independence and personal responsibility
  • Communicate updates with care teams and complete required documentation
  • Help maintain a safe, predictable, and respectful environment
