About The Position

The Arc of the Quad Cities Area has several part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) positions available to help our individuals live their best lives. 😎 The Arc's mission is to empower people with disabilities to believe in their unique abilities and achieve their full potential by providing quality, innovative services that focus on advocacy, inclusion, independence, employment, meaningful community life, and personal happiness. If you are passionate about working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we would love to meet you and discuss this opportunity further. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide compassionate care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your responsibilities, aligned with each person's service plan and strategies, include supervising activities, offering personal care training, implementing active treatments, and administering medication when needed. You must always prioritize safety and well-being, encourage self-advocacy, provide informed choices, and maintain accurate records, such as data sheets and incident reports, to meet agency and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will provide insights into individual progress and needs to inform program development. Each of our part-time DSP positions has a fixed schedule to accommodate program and individual needs. The schedule requires working at least four days per week, including Saturdays and Sundays. Depending on the program's assigned schedule, their hours will vary between first and second shifts, averaging 24 hours per week. Requirements

  • Must have a current and valid driver's license with the appropriate car insurance
  • Provide evidence of a high school diploma/transcripts
  • Have the ability to pass both Iowa and Illinois background checks
  • Demonstrate strength and flexibility to assist lifting individuals or provide other individual-related care when needed.
  • Maintain a positive, fun attitude to encourage the individuals we serve.
