About The Position

Empowered Services is a one-on-one attendant care agency providing Activities of Daily Living (ADL) support and community-based services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in their own homes. Our mission is to support individuals in building independence, engaging in their communities, and living meaningful, self-directed lives. We are hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide 1:1 in-home and community-based support in the Portland area. In this role, you will support daily living activities (ADLs), build a consistent, professional relationship, promote independence, structure, and routine, and provide safe, respectful, and reliable care. This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, communicative, and comfortable maintaining clear professional boundaries while providing supportive care. You will be supporting an individual who values consistency, clear communication, and mutual respect, is motivated to build independence and work toward long-term goals, benefits from structured routines and predictable scheduling, and thrives with professional, respectful interactions and clear expectations. This role is a strong fit for someone who can balance supportive engagement with appropriate boundaries and consistency.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements)
• Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying)
• Comfortable providing personal care support

Nice To Haves

• Experience in caregiving, DSP, CNA, or healthcare roles
• Experience supporting individuals with I/DD
• CPR/First Aid certification

Responsibilities

• Provide ADL support (hygiene, meals, organization, mobility)
• Support community access (appointments, shopping, activities)
• Encourage life skills development and independence
• Follow individualized support plans and routines
• Maintain clear, professional communication and boundaries
• Accurately document services and daily activities
• Communicate updates with care teams and coordinators
• Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment
