About The Position

The position involves assisting individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities while upholding their personal rights. The role requires patience and tolerance, providing emotional support, and building positive relationships. Responsibilities include supporting individuals to meet personal goals that enhance their quality of life, engaging in respectful communication, encouraging socialization, and facilitating community connections. The employee will supervise, protect, and care for individuals, ensuring health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and adhering to policies and regulations. The role also involves implementing individualized service and behavior support plans, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and assisting with daily living activities, personal care, and medication administration. The employee will develop specialized knowledge for specific needs, collect and summarize data on behavior, and participate in team meetings to ensure quality care.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain SCIP-R certification within one year.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain additional required certifications within one year.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities.

  • Assist with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Ensure medication is administered as prescribed.
  • Teach and develop skills for individuals.
  • Facilitate ethical decision making and support person-centered advocacy.
  • Transport and escort individuals to various activities and appointments.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on individuals' observable behavior.
  • Participate in team meetings and communicate programmatic needs.
  • Complete and maintain necessary trainings and certifications.

Benefits

  • $18.00 per hour compensation.
