Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to meet essential physical demands of the position.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working with people with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer skills including email and related systems.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain SCIP-R certification within one year.
  • Must hold or obtain and maintain additional required certifications within one year.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours as needed.
  • Valid Driver's License and Van certification may be required for certain assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities.
  • Provide emotional support and build positive relationships.
  • Support individuals to meet personal goals that enhance quality of life.
  • Engage in respectful communications using person-first language.
  • Facilitate activities that provide social capital and community connections.
  • Supervise, protect, and care for individuals at all times.
  • Manage crisis situations and ensure health, wellness, and safety.
  • Implement person-centered, individualized plans and behavior support plans.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment.
  • Assist with personal care and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Administer medication as prescribed.
  • Support person-centered advocacy and assist in communication.
  • Plan and prepare balanced meals according to dietary restrictions.
  • Transport and escort individuals to various activities and appointments.
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on individuals' observable behavior.
  • Communicate programmatic needs to team members and maintain a solution-oriented approach.
  • Complete and maintain necessary trainings and certifications.
  • Utilize approved training techniques to respond to challenging behaviors.
  • Provide coverage for other direct support staff as needed.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $18.00 per hour.
