PathPoint is excited to welcome full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our Life Skills Plus day program in Thousand Oaks, CA 91360. PathPoint's day services provide skills training and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will lead in-person, community-based, and virtual classes. The curriculum includes art, music, cooking, volunteering, and more. We're looking for creative and compassionate people who are teachers at heart, and we encourage you to bring your own ideas for new curriculum! About PathPoint: PathPoint is a nonprofit dedicated to helping people flourish. We partner with children, adults, and families to foster hope, build life skills, access support systems, and form meaningful relationships. We serve communities across Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-3:30m , and the work environment may be a mix of indoor and outdoor settings. Compensation: This is an hourly, non-exempt position starting at $25.00 per hour. The pay range for this position is $23.75-$26.25. The pay range is subject to change based on a variety of factors. Requirements

  • Patience, compassion, and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and be eligible for coverage on PathPoint's auto insurance policy.
  • Culturally aware, acknowledges diverse employee backgrounds, possesses skills to collaborate across cultures, and avoids biased assumptions based on cultural differences.
  • High school diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

  • Teach individuals social/life skills to help them lead more independent lives, including communication skills, mobility, money management, housing, and public transportation.
  • Teach individuals vocational skills to help prepare them for entry-level employment.
  • Supervise individuals during hours of instruction and on community outings and volunteering.
  • Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills.
  • Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and written progress reports.
