About The Position

New Horizons in Autism, Inc (NHIA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing diverse opportunities to enhance the quality of life for adults with autism since 1980 throughout Bergen, Monmouth, and Ocean Counties. As a Direct Support Professional, you will provide direct care and supervision for individuals with autism in a residential home setting and assist in the day-to-day operations of the group home. This is a hands-on role requiring the individual in this position to assist residents with a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to personal care, medication management, life skills, transportation, and providing daily structure and support, to name a few.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED/Higher Degree (must provide diploma or transcripts).
• Must be at least 20 years old.
• A valid NJ driver's license.
• Ability to pass all background checks, including Central Registry, CARI, DMV, Fingerprints, Drug Screen, Physical, and PPD.
• Ability to interact appropriately and effectively with persons with autism.
• Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication (written and verbal).

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with individuals with autism or in a caregiving role.
• Compassionate and dedicated attitude towards providing care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision for individuals with autism in a residential home setting.
