The Direct Support Professional supports individuals who participate in the Acquired Brain Injury residential program. The Direct Support Professional is a positive team player that promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.

Requirements

  • Eighteen years of age with a high school diploma or GED
  • Twenty-one years of age and have at least one year of experience as a direct-contact staff serving persons with disabilities
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable operating transportation, and proof of auto insurance

Responsibilities

  • Assists and trains Participants in the upkeep of residences, including cleaning, laundry, and minor household maintenance
  • Assists and trains Participants with personal care needs such as bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding, and grooming.
  • Assists and trains Participants with meal planning, food preparation, and feeding.
  • Assists and trains Participants with budgeting and shopping.
  • Training and supports should be provided as indicated in the Individual Support Plan
  • Prepares daily documentation including staff notes, financial logs, activity logs, menus, self-administration medication records, etc.
  • Assists in the assessment of individual training needs, development and implementation of training objectives, and participating as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team that formulates and reviews the Individual Support Plan
  • Provides transportation as needed
  • Enhances Participant community integration by encouraging age-appropriate community activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Residential Coordinator or designee
  • May perform tasks in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities programs
  • Actively participate in corporate-wide initiatives
  • Support and work within the mission and strategic plan of the organization
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations and standards
  • Communicate in all directions in a manner that is positive, productive, and supportive of teamwork, innovation, and collaboration
  • Create and maintain a Regional culture of inclusion focused on growth and improvement
  • Work collaboratively with management teams to ensure quality service delivery
  • Attend regular staff meetings
