About The Position

The Direct Support Professional BHS Float plays a critical role in providing compassionate and individualized support to individuals with behavioral health needs across various settings. This position involves working flexibly across multiple locations to ensure continuity of care and support tailored to each individual's unique requirements. The primary goal is to promote independence, enhance quality of life, and support recovery by implementing person-centered plans and therapeutic interventions. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid PA/NJ Driver’s License and 1 year of driving experience
  • Two years of personal/professional experience working directly with adults with co-occurring diagnoses (dual diagnosis of autism/intellectual disabilities and mental/behavioral health diagnoses).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with individuals and team members.
  • Previous experience within behavioral health services along with knowledge of behavioral health principles and crisis intervention techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and support to individuals with behavioral health challenges, ensuring their safety and well-being in various environments.
  • Implement individualized support plans and therapeutic interventions designed to meet the specific needs of each person served.
  • Adapt quickly to different work settings and individual's needs by floating between multiple locations as required.
  • Collaborate with ICST teams, families, and community partners to coordinate care and promote holistic support.
  • Document observations, progress, and any incidents accurately and timely in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Assist individuals in developing life skills, social skills, and coping strategies to enhance their independence and community integration.
  • Respond effectively to behavioral crises or emergencies using de-escalation techniques and established protocols.
