About The Position

Toomey is a not-for-profit organization providing community-based clinical treatment services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, youth in foster care and youth with mental health needs in the Central New York region. Requirements

• Must be 21 years old and have a valid NYS driver's license with 4 points or less.
• High School Diploma or GED required; Associates in Human Services preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in another human service area or in a health care field OR Associates degree in Human Services or related field required.
• Will be required to successfully complete the OPWDD fingerprinting clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an advocate for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist with personal care needs and provide supervision.
• Act as a role model to clients who reside in a group home setting or out in the community.
• Assist clients in their day-to-day routines and teach them skills necessary to achieve their maximum potential as defined in their care plans.
• Help in maintaining the household including meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
• Serve as a positive liaison between outside service providers, parents, and others who have a relationship with clients.
• Provide transportation for program needs/recreational activities.
