About The Position

The Overnight Direct Support Professional is responsible to maintain a safe, predictable, and therapeutic living environment for children in care at Andrus while supporting the agency’s mission, vision, core values and treatment philosophy. The Overnight Direct Support Professional provides close supervision, counseling, and support to the children during all cottage-based activities. The Overnight Direct Support Professional is responsible for planning and implementing individual and group initiatives to build children’s skills and self-esteem. The Overnight Direct Support Professional ensures that the basic needs of children are met, and that the cottage is maintained in a safe, orderly, predictable, therapeutic, structured, and clean condition. The Overnight Direct Support Professional works as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes recreation therapists, teachers, social workers, and other professionals.

Requirements

  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (in-service trainings are mandatory)
  • Minimum of HS diploma (or equivalent), required
  • Willing to train the right candidate
  • A valid driver's license in good standing for a minimum of three years, a plus
  • Computer proficient and navigate Microsoft Office suite
  • Multi-lingual a plus
  • Ability to access and utilize ADP on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs

Responsibilities

  • Assuring the safety of each resident and for the cottage community
  • Actively supervise the residents at all times, based on their age and level, to assure everyone’s safety
  • Enacting the program schedule as written and on time
  • Using all aspects of Sanctuary in the care provided
  • Using all aspects of trauma sensitive care in the services provided
  • Using all techniques of TCI to prevent triggering and to intervene early to prevent escalation to crisis
  • Conducting safe management of any crisis that does arise and assuring safety and learning after any crisis
  • Using the scan system to record consistent monitoring by conducting visual checks of residents every 15 minutes for the duration of the shift
  • Documenting work in a clear, timely way with scanning, nightly logs, round-up, census, and other reports
  • Establishing safety (physical, emotional, moral, and social) within the cottage
  • Executing consistent communication with colleagues and residents through established systems set forth by manager/department
  • Supporting overall strategic plan of the organization
  • Adhering to the organization’s core values and commitments
