The Direct Support Professional staff provides direct care services and supports to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Duties consist of quality interaction and support of individuals in all activities of daily living, personal care, routine housekeeping, cooking, shopping, skills training and community integration. Settings in which services are provided include community (public) settings, individuals home, and center-operated Individual Skills and Socialization/Day Habilitation training sites. Performs moderately complex (journey-level) habilitative and rehabilitative care work with individuals who have developmental disabilities. Works under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The assigned shift will generally be M-F, 8am-4pm; however due to client needs, scheduled events, or staff outages there are times in which staff will be asked to provide services outside the typical M-F, 8-4. These events are typically known in advance and supervisor will work with staff to flex their schedule. If flexing is not able to occur, overtime pay will be given for hours exceeding 40 hours in a week (Sunday-Saturday). In the event a client service is scheduled on a center holiday, holiday pay will be given for time worked.
