About The Position

The Direct Support Lead is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of assigned 24-hour community living home under the leadership of the Area Supervisor. This role provides leadership, supervision, and support to Direct Support Professionals while ensuring high-quality, person-centered services for Individuals. The Direct Support Lead ensures compliance with all waiver requirements, CARF standards, and organizational policies, while supporting the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Reports to: Area Supervisor Supervises: Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma, post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Two years of management experience preferred.
  • Two years of experience serving people with developmental, physical or mental disabilities, preferred.
  • Knowledge of intellectual disabilities, mental health, human behavior, gentle teaching, person-centered training, quality of life and relationships.
  • Each Direct Support Lead must meet state and company requirements.
  • Experience and skills necessary to perform services listed above.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Satisfies all requirements under applicable law.
  • A positive and pleasant attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work a regular schedule DSP shift
  • Be available to work days, evenings, overnights, weekends and/or holidays based upon needs of the home, including call-offs as needed.
  • Provides on-call services when needed.
  • Supervises DSPs including their training, leading meetings, scheduling and communicating.
  • Work closely with the Area Supervisor, Director of Individuals Finance and Human Resources to assure that the files of Direct Support Professionals and Individuals are maintained in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and LEL policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Individualized Support Team (IST) in assessing the Individual’s risks and assuring a plan is in place to address the Individual’s identified risks.
  • Prepare, investigate, and submit all Incident Reports for their assigned caseload.
  • Work with individuals IST to identify and implement Individuals goals to support their vision of their best life.
  • Ensure that each of the following is reviewed and agreed upon by the IST at each quarterly meeting: The appropriateness of services Risk assessments and current risk plans The appropriateness of PCISP goals Progress towards PCISP goals Recent and upcoming medical appointments Health and safety of the Individual Review and ensure that all documentation required by applicable law and the LEL Home Services’ Maintenance of an LEL Home Services’ Individual’s Personnel File Policy are maintained in the Individual’s Blue Book and copies are uploaded to the LEL shared drive
  • Be available during emergencies.
  • Exemplifies, promotes, and supports valued roles in the lives of all LEL Home Services’ Individuals.
  • Demonstrates competencies as a Direct Support Professional by providing assistance to Individuals as they pursue the Good Life.
  • Attend all medical appointments and quarterly/annual meetings.
  • Completing monthly financial reports as applicable.
  • Monitor for compliance with the medication administration policy, including ensuring that medications are administered as ordered by the physician and documented accordingly.
  • Any other duties requested by LEL Home Services.
